Why choose Barking Bear?
Barking Bear guests are treated like family and appreciated for their own unique personalities. Your pup will get personalized, professional care while enjoying a mountain oasis full of smells and room to run.
Comfortable Family Environment
We limit number of pups we care for so that we can integrate them into our day to day like family. We are meticulous with dog-dog introductions and cleanliness in order to maintain comfort & safety.
Fear Free Training
We have years of experience using positive reinforcement training personally and professionally and are proud to have helped many dogs and their people overcome behavioral challenges and adolescent exuberance.
Enrichment and Adventure
We offer an ideal environment for meeting dogs' physical and emotional needs with hikes, playtime, and learning. Treat your dog to their own vacation or to weekly fun and you'll have a tired & happy pup.
About Us
Meet Anne & Bear
My name is Anne, and this is Mister Bear - the inspiration for Barking Bear Pet Care.
Bear has since passed over the rainbow bridge, but he was a very special and sensitive old man. Finding someone I could trust with my best friend when I traveled was incredibly difficult, and finding a training approach that worked for both of us was even harder. I want to be the kind of pet caretaker and training support that Bear and I needed.
We are pet sitters and trainers who:
- Understand how important your pet is to you
- Appreciate your pet's unique personality and needs
- Empathize with the individuals at both ends of the leash
- Give parents peace of mind and keep them up to date
- Will never use aversive training tools or methods on your pet
- Treat your pet like part of our family while you're away
Our Team
The Barking Bear Family
Anne
Chief Dog WranglerAnne has fostered countless dogs over the years and spent the last few years transitioning into a dog training career. She loves teaching tricks, agility, and fundamentals, and she's especially passionate about helping dogs with big feelings (fearfulness or reactivity) navigate the world.
Dan
Chief Dog CuddlerA lifelong dog lover, Dan is excited to finally have a little pack of his own. He's become quite adept at winning over dogs that are fearful of men and he expertly prepares (separate) meals for dogs and humans alike. Scritches and snuggles are also some of his specialties.
Riley
a.k.a. The BossRiley carefully vets every new dog to come into her home, but once they're on her good side she'll lead them fearlessly on walks, hikes, and other adventures. When she's not enforcing house rules, she loves showing off her speed on the agility course or just zooming around the yard, especially when well-rewarded with treats.
Ullie
Purebred Good BoyA “foster fail” that we couldn't imagine living anywhere else, Ullie loves making new friends, and never wants to miss out on meals, walks, playtime, or snuggles. With puppies who appreciate his infinite patience, he goes by Uncle Ullie. To the squirrels and other villains of the world, he is known by his superhero name Cap'n Flappin'.
