Why choose Barking Bear?
Ever since the original Handsome Mr. Bear, we've cherished our pets for their own unique personalities, and look forward to treating your loved ones like they're our own
Comfortable Family Environment
We only take in one dog (or family) at a time and are meticulous with introductions to our dogs in order to maintain a comfortable, nurturing home environment
Positive Reinforcement Experience
We have years of experience using R+ training with our own dogs and fosters, and Anne trains professionally and is working towards her CPDT-KA certification
Enrichment
and
Adventure
We do our best to give dogs the physical and mental stimulation they need - including walks, adventures, playtime, puzzle toys, and more - to have fun and learn to be their best!
About Us
Meet Anne & Bear
My name is Anne, and this is Mister Bear - the inspiration for Barking Bear Pet Care.
Bear has since passed over the rainbow bridge, but he was a very special and sensitive old man. Finding someone I could trust with my best friend when I traveled was incredibly difficult - he ran away from home with pet sitters more than once. I want to be the kind of pet caretaker that Bear and I needed.
We are pet sitters who:
- Understand how important your pet is to you
- Appreciate your pet's unique personality and needs
- Give parents peace of mind and keep them up to date
- Will never use aversive training tools or methods on your pet
- Treat your pet like part of our family while you're away
Our Team
The Barking Bear Family
Anne
Chief Dog WranglerAnne has fostered countless dogs over the years and spent the last few years transitioning into a dog training career. She loves teaching tricks, agility, and fundamentals, and she's especially passionate about helping dogs with big feelings (fearfulness or reactivity) navigate the world.
Dan
Chief Dog CuddlerA lifelong dog lover, Dan is excited to finally have a little pack of his own. He's become quite adept at winning over dogs that are fearful of men and he expertly prepares (separate) meals for dogs and humans alike. Scritches and snuggles are also some of his specialties.
Riley
a.k.a. The BossRiley carefully vets every new dog to come into her home, but once they're on her good side she'll lead them fearlessly on walks, hikes, and other adventures. When she's not enforcing house rules, she loves showing off her speed at the dog park, agility course, or just zooming around the yard, especially when well-rewarded with treats.
Ullie
Purebred Good BoyA “foster fail” that we couldn't imagine living anywhere else, Ullie loves making new friends, and never wants to miss out on meals, walks, playtime, or snuggles. With puppies who appreciate his infinite patience, he goes by Uncle Ullie. To the squirrels and other villains of the neighborhood, he is known by his superhero name Cap'n Flappin'.
About Boarding
About Our Boarding Services
Barking Bear Boarding takes place in our Denver Highlands home.
- We have a yard with a 6 foot privacy fence for playtime.
- Both Dan and Anne will be caring for your pup.
- Our guests can be either crate trained OR non-destructive.
- Your pup won't be alone often, Dan & Anne work from home full and part time, respectively.
- Our guests do not have to be dog social, but able to coexist with our pack after a slow introduction.
- We have two cats, but they live in our bedroom and are kept fully out of sight and separate from all dogs in the house.
- We rarely take boarding clients from more than one family at a time, please let us know if your pup would do best as the only boarder.
- We foster dog social rescue pups, and we don't take boarding clients during the foster adjustment period.
