What Pet Parents Have to Say

small rescue mix laying down in the sunny backyard at barking bear

Bryna & Ryan

& Madi

There are simply not enough stars to properly review the experience of leaving your pup at BBPC&T. Their place is AMAZING with acres of hills and woods and squirrels for the dogs to enjoy. And they are exceptional caregivers of both you and your dog, ensuring that you get the personalized updates and photos that you need to survive the time apart. Our rescue Madi nearly jumps through the door whenever Anne, Dan, or one of their team members come to pick her up. We refer to their place as summer camp for dogs and I'm 1,000% sure Madi would go live there if we let her. If you are still reading this review just book it already you will be so glad you did!

& Otto

We signed up for 10 sessions with Anne and boy did we hit the jackpot. Anne has been incredible in helping Otto meet four different dogs and we've even gotten to the point where he can engage in play with the younger dogs. We totally trust Anne to know which dogs are a good fit for Otto depending on what we are trying to accomplish. We are extremely impressed with how quickly this happened and Otto absolutely loves his visits. Anne is a master dog trainer and the 1:1 training has been invaluable.

The highlight of Archie's week is Thursday! Hiking day with the owners of Barking Bear: Anne and Dan. Archie is able to get great exercise while also socializing with other dogs. Each week hiking information and pictures are shared. I highly recommend Barking Bear!

& Polly

We are SO LUCKY to know Anne! She is one of the very few people I trust with our high maintenance, separation anxiety ridden, medically complex rescue pup. She started incredibly slow with our dog, earning her trust over time. Now Polly literally jumps in the air when I tell her it's a day to visit Anne. Anne's own dogs are complete sweethearts and Polly enjoys the extra socializing and fun of intermittent foster doggies. Anne is a complete lifesaver for us!

Kaitie

& Willy

My pup is a scared and barking rescue. Anne was so patient, thorough, and thoughtful leading up to and during the first overnight. It's such a relief to have a caring person that can love my dog when I am away. She sent many updates, took as much time as my dog needed for drop off, and gave incredible feedback for me to celebrate and things to work on! I am so thankful and will absolutely be a repeat customer!

& Beans

Beans loves Anne and Dan more than he loves us! They take great care of him when he is boarded with them. He also loves to go on hikes and he is dead tired when he comes back. They have been training with Beans since he was a puppy. They are gentle and patient with dogs but hold boundaries and teach in a way that both dogs and people love. Your dog will love Barking Bear!

Anne is the best! She took great care of my nervous pup, making sure that she felt comfortable and updated me frequently with pictures. My dog isn't comfortable with many people but she absolutely loves Anne!

husky bully mix named jango

Bria

& Jango

Couldn't be happier with Anne & Co. at Barking Bear! My 2 yo husky/bully mix absolutely loves going for camp/school on Tuesdays and recently for weekend boarding. I've had some bad experiences with boarding in the past, but I didn't have a single worry leaving my boy with Anne, and he came home tired, calm and satisfied. I love that Barking Bear does thoughtful, supervised and slow introductions with each pup. Barking Bear allows dogs to be dogs while also being supportive of each pup's needs. They are attuned to dog body language to facilitate different play styles, healthy socialization and quick intervention if necessary. Highly recommend without hesitation!

Laurel

& Wati

Barking Bear is exactly what we have been searching for. Before finding Barking Bear, I would always get so anxious to leave my dog at the boarding kennel. Now, my worries are gone and I can travel knowing that my dog is SO happy and safe. Not only is my dog happier in their home setting in the mountains, the care that she receives from Anne and Dan is unmatched. I love the daily photo updates too. I could go on and on about how amazing this place is!

two happy dogs named bauer and blue looking up at the camera

Melissa

& Bauer & Blue

Anne went above and beyond making sure our pups were well taken care of. Our puppy had little exposure to other dogs. They allowed him to move at his own pace and comfort to become familiar to other dogs. They also gave me updates and pictures of both of our pups and the many activities they participated in. I have never felt so at ease leaving our pups in the care of someone else. I was finally able to enjoy my time away from my home and wasted no time worrying about my pups care!

Meet Anne

...and Handsome Mister Bear - the inspiration for Barking Bear Pet Care.

Bear has since passed over the rainbow bridge, but he was a very special and sensitive old man. Finding someone I could trust with my best friend when I traveled was incredibly difficult, and finding a training approach that worked for both of us was even harder.

My goal is to be the kind of caretaker and trainer that Bear and I needed.

I have spent the last few years transitioning into a dog training career, inspired by both Bear and the countless foster dogs I've helped in my life. I am committed to an ethical, evidence based, and fear-free approach to behavior change and I am especially passionate about helping dogs with big feelings (fearfulness or reactivity) navigate the world.

dan wiegand pet care provider smiling on a hike in the mountains

Dan

Chief Dog Cuddler

A lifelong dog lover, Dan is excited to finally have a little pack of his own. He's become quite adept at winning over dogs that are fearful of men and he expertly prepares (separate) meals for dogs and humans alike. Scritches and snuggles are also some of his specialties.

goofy black rescue mix dog named riley posing in the grass looking happy

Riley

a.k.a. The Boss

Riley carefully vets every new dog to come into her home, but once they're on her good side she'll lead them fearlessly on walks, hikes, and other adventures. When she's not enforcing house rules, she loves showing off her speed on the agility course or just zooming around the yard, especially when well-rewarded with treats.

tan and white rescue pitbull named ullie aka ulrik laying in the grass with a wide content smile

Ullie

Purebred Good Boy

A “foster fail” that we couldn't imagine living anywhere else, Ullie loves making new friends, and never wants to miss out on meals, walks, playtime, or snuggles. With puppies who appreciate his infinite patience, he goes by Uncle Ullie. To the squirrels and other villains of the world, he is known by his superhero name Cap'n Flappin'.
